  • What are decaf espresso beans?

    Decaf espresso beans are coffee beans that have been decaffeinated to remove their caffeine content. In this case, the decaf coffee beans have been selected and roasted with the intention of brewing as espresso.

  • Does decaf espresso have caffeine?

    Decaf espresso has trace amount of caffeine. The decaffeination process removes at least 97% of caffeine, usually closer to 99%. A double shot of regular espresso contains, approximately, 120-150mg of caffeine. A double shot of decaf espresso contains, approximately, 2-5mg of caffeine.

  • What is water process decaffeination?

    Swiss Water Process and Mountain Water Process are two natural decaffeination methods that use only water and carbon filters. Unroasted coffee beans are soaked in water to release coffee compounds, including caffeine. The water passes through filters that trap the caffeine, leaving behind decaf coffee beans.

  • What is EA or Sugar Cane decaffeination?

    EA or Sugar Cane decaffeination uses a compound, Ethyl Acetate, that is naturally derived from sugar cane. Coffee beans are soaked in water infused with EA, to which caffeine naturally binds. The EA and caffeine is filtered from the water, leaving behind decaf coffee beans.
